This Tesla Cyberbike concept was designed entirely by artificial intelligence

While the Cybertruck is still a conceptual vehicle, we thought we’d up the ante and envision what a Tesla Cyberbike would look like!

Looking a bit like the Tesla Cyberquad’s mean older brother, the Cyberbike shares the same edgy, angular metal bodywork that houses Tesla’s groundbreaking electric powertrain. However, this isn’t an official Tesla concept, heck, it’s not even a fan-made one. These conceptual images (there are a number of them below) were primarily designed using Midjourney’s text-to-image AI. I simply described the Tesla Cyberbike to the AI bot and was greeted by some pretty phenomenal looking images of an angular, low-poly e-bike with a wide, aggressive body made mostly of sheet metal. The AI also experimented with other aspects of the e-bike – no two headlights look the same, and some of the tires look pretty angular too, but the results make two things abundantly clear… that A. Artificial Intelligence is an incredibly powerful creative tool, and B. Someone should really build these because they look absolutely BONKERS.

Designer: Midjourney (Prompts by Sarang Sheth)

These images are from Midjourney’s latest V4 upgrade, which now allows users to use images in their text prompts. I just picked a few minimalist bike designs and told the AI to expand on them by creating a “Tesla Cybertruck-inspired electric motorcycle.” For the most part, the AI has done a pretty remarkable job of understanding how angular the Cybertruck’s design is and applying that to the “cyberbike,” but the only thing the AI is currently lacking is consistency. Each image shows a “new” bike that doesn’t look quite like the other concept. If anything, this article is more of a mood board for what a Tesla Cyberbike should look like. If Franz von Holzhausen (Tesla’s lead designer) is reading this, here you go! You are welcome!

The bike concepts have something in common, they are all quite wide, with an imposing silhouette that makes them look more like a superbike than your average e-bike. Those fat AF tires reinforce that idea too, although some concepts make the tires just as boxy and sharp as the cyberbike’s fairing itself. Giving the AI a cyberpunk theme resulted in a few interesting variants with some nice headlights (all LED stripes) and some concepts like the one below even put lights in the tires, making the e-bike look like something out of Tron.

The AI obviously doesn’t understand technical details, which is why many of the concepts don’t seem entirely viable, but are more of a general visual direction. Some concepts forget to render footrests, some rather play loosely with internal components – almost none of the concepts have an exhaust pipe, but some look like they have a fuel-powered engine. I like that they all skipped the rearview mirrors too, almost like an internal joke about the Cybertruck having no rearview mirrors when it debuted! Fortunately, there are no broken glass panes with these concepts.

This Tesla Cyberbike Exploration eventually turned into a Headlight Exploration where the AI relies on new headlight styles. They’re all sporty, no doubt, and LED strip lighting seems to be a recurring theme, but unlike the Cybertruck, which has just a single strip running left-to-right, these concepts are experimenting with new shapes and a split-headlight design that does allows bike MUCH more character.

The glowing bumpers are a nice touch, aren’t they?! The image below even goes so far as to add stripes at the base and tail for a pretty interesting overall aesthetic.

Even with close-ups, the AI did a phenomenal job of rendering the details of the cyberbike’s headlight, glass cover, and even the cutouts for the air intakes around it, while maintaining bilateral symmetry. Look further in and you can see what looks like additional lights with reflectors and textured glass, but then again, these images are to be taken strictly at face value.

My recent experiments have been to design a dashboard for the motorcycle as well, and it seems the AI would prefer something more traditional and circular, although a massive touchscreen display seems to be more of a standard in Tesla cars. This dashboard is also fully digital, although the numbers and letters are gibberish because the AI isn’t quite able to generate meaningful text yet (it appears to be something Nvidia has cracked with their latest AI tool eDiff-I, although that is not open). public use yet).

Earlier this year, we also shared what an AI designed Apple Car created by another AI art bot called DALL E 2 would look like. AI art is definitely making waves this year, and while many talented artists (rightly so) fear this could be the end of human-made art, the tool should also be considered for what it is and incredible idea generation software , which enables designers and artists to create quick concepts that take minutes instead of hours or days.
