Oilers’ Evander Kane returns to ice for first time since wrist surgery

Edmonton Oilers forward Kane was back on the ice for the first time since undergoing surgery three weeks ago for a lacerated wrist.

Kane was seen handling the cane with both hands. The 31-year-old underwent surgery three weeks ago after cutting his wrist from Philippe Myers’ skate.

Kane recently told Scott Oake in After Hours that he couldn’t recover from the feeling in his thumb from the severed nerves. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported in 32 Thoughts that he followed up with a couple of doctors who advised it was not unusual and – at this point – not a cause for concern.

At the time, Kane was expected to be out for three to four months. Kane, who signed a four-year, $20.5 million deal with the Oilers during the offseason, has five goals and eight assists in 13 games this season.
