England vs Senegal Start Time Live Stream: How to Watch World Cup 2022 Live Online TV Channels Tips Odds

England meets Senegal the World Cup Round of 16 while the Three Lions try to fend off the talented African team and advance to the Quarterfinals. Senegal may be African champions but England, the tournament’s top scorer with nine goals from three games, go into the game as heavy favorites to progress. Gareth Southgate has selection dilemmas, but for the most part they are the kind a manager enjoys: when choosing form up front, he relies on youthful vigor or proven experience in midfield.

There are plenty of questions for Senegal too, but they come in the form of selection challenges for Aliou Cisse, who is without Idrissa Gueye and possibly Cheikhou Kouyate due to suspension.

England: The makeup of those playing Harry Kane is the biggest question hanging over Southgate, and the joy of it is that there aren’t particularly wrong answers. Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka all have goals in this tournament while Raheem Sterling has delivered for his country on the tournament stage. Jack Grealish has settled into a slightly closer role, while James Maddison has regained his fitness.

As for Kane, he is yet to score but has three assists to his credit. Having won the Golden Boot four years ago by bullying opponents in the group stage, where he scored five of his six goals, he is ready to take a different approach.

“It probably goes back to 2018. At the World Cup, I felt like we started the tournament great, just physically and maybe mentally. I started the tournament with a lot of goals, used a lot of energy and so The tournament kept going, I felt like my performances were slipping in the latter stages,” Kane said.

Senegal: Questions have been raised about the status of manager Cisse, who missed his Friday press conference due to illness.

“He’s been ill for a few days now,” said his assistant Regis Bogaert. “He left the training to us yesterday, obviously we reached the players with his instructions.

“Hopefully [Sunday] He will come and be able to sit on the bench with the players. I’m sure that … he’ll be there with the team.”

Gueye’s absence may be a major failure for a team who have already had to work without talismanic Sadio Mane this tournament, but they will feel Ismaila Sarr and Amath Ndiaye have enough in their dressing room to send England to the to test flanks.

forecast

Expect Senegal to keep their defenses strong and challenge England to break them. It may take a while, but eventually the Three Lions should do this. Choose: England 1, Senegal 0
