Best Buy has dropped the price of the brilliant Echelon Sport Rower by $300 to just $297 (opens in new tab). Echelon is responsible for making some of the best rowing machines around (opens in new tab)with the likes of the Echelon Smart Rower (opens in new tab) which received the title “best foldable rowing machine” from our testers.
The Echelon Sport is a little lighter and more affordable than the Smart Rower, but still has the same great features that make Echelon rowers great.
As well as the rowing machine itself, you also get a free 30-day trial of the Echelon Fit app, which gives you access to live and on-demand rowing classes or scenic waterway workouts right from your smartphone or tablet 12.9 inches. If you’re competitive by nature, you can sync your new rowing machine with the Echelon Fit app via Bluetooth to track performance stats like ranking, distance, speed, calories burned and total power for each workout.

The Echelon Sport Rower features a sliding comfort seat and a durable foot platform designed to support proper hip and spine alignment and optimal rowing form and performance. It uses magnetic resistance that you can switch between using the handlebar controls. This is convenient and helps to focus on the exercise.
The lack of a touchscreen might initially sound like a shortcoming, but Echelon has cleverly turned it into a strength. You can connect the rowing machine to the extensive Echelon Fit app (opens in new tab) to access hundreds of live and follow-along workouts, as well as view your performance metrics and track your progress. This requires you to pay a monthly membership fee, but we think it’s worth it given the volume and quality of content on offer.
The app offers everything from rowing sessions to weight training to yoga. So if you fancy some cross training (opens in new tab) For some off-row work, you can just bring your phone or tablet to a convenient spot or roll out a yoga mat (opens in new tab) and get started with ease – something that machines with an integrated touchscreen cannot offer.
We found that there were also courses for all skill levels, whether you’re a newbie to rowing or you’ve been on the water half your life, and we loved how you can easily filter workouts based on factors like training style and trainer in order to to find a suitable one that is right for you.
If you want to increase your fitness or lose weight with a rowing machine (opens in new tab)we recommend getting into the (virtual) water and if the Echelon isn’t for you, read on for more great rowing machines on offer (opens in new tab).
