AFTERLIFE Sequel is directed by Gil Kenan and the original cast returns – GeekTyrant

Ghostbusters: Life After Death Co-Writer and Executive Producer Gil Kenan is to direct the sequel, which has a working title firehousewhich he developed with the original director and co-writer Jason Reitman. Reitman is credited as the sequel’s writer and will also serve as executive producer.

It has also been announced that the original cast will be returning for the sequel, and that includes Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon along with Fin Wolfhard and McKenna Grace. As for the original ghostbusters Cast, all we know is that Ernie Hudsonwill be involved, however Dan Aikroyd and Bill Murray are in the air.

Kenan said in a statement, “It is an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera for the next chapter in the Spengler family saga. I just wish I could go back to 1984 and tell that kid on the sixth row at Mann Valley West that one day he’d be directing a Ghostbusters movie.”

Reitman added, “A few years ago my dad gave me the keys to Ecto-1 and we did it together Ghostbusters: Life After Death. Words can never express how grateful I am to have made a film with my father by my side. Now it’s time to hand those keys over to my creative partner and Ghostbuster colleague Gil Kenan, a brilliant director who will keep the spirit of Spengler alive. I can only hope to give him the same productive care and support that my father showed me.”

Kenan is a great choice to direct the film! He previously did Monster House, Poltergeist, and City of Ember. I’m confident he will make another great Ghostbusters movie!

Hudson will have a decent role in the sequel. Reitman previously shared, “The character of Winston Zeddemore and Zeddemore Industries plays an important role in the future of Ghostbusters.”

The film has previously been described as “the next chapter in the Spengler family story”. It will officially return to New York City and is also expected to take place at the Firehouse headquarters shown in the first two ghostbusters movies.

Hudson previously spoke about the script, saying, “I read a version. I’m pretty sure they’ve committed to doing another one. I’m very happy with it, but I also know it’s early days. Jason was amazing and “I really love and appreciate him. I’m so grateful to be able to work with him. So I’m happy about it, but… I don’t have anything and I never take on anything. But I’m happy to to have.” Ghostbusters in my filmography. And I get so excited when I see little kids around the age of two and three singing the song and enjoying it.”

That Ghostbusters: Life After Death The sequel is currently slated to hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
